Restaurant Reviews - American

West Bank Cafe  Est. 1978   Map
I have attended the West Bank Cafe about three times, and its a favorite of mine. Its in the heart of the theatre district. In addition to fine dining and spirits upstairs, they have an amazing theatre with local up and coming performers downstairs. Its a true Class A resturant and I would recommend it to everyone.

Restaurant Reviews - Delicatessen

Carnegie Deli   Map
We waited outside on a cold day for about forty minutes to get in, and once we did get in, we were smushed up inside the entranceway. We were in the waitstaff's path to the kitchen. Two servers were very rude and literally shoved us to walk past us. We had to wait a fairly long time to order and then to get our food. The food was not very good and the portions were so big that they threatened to clog your arteries right there on the spot. Our server made a point of telling us where to leave his tip.

Restaurant Reviews - Diners/Coffee Shops

Yaffa Cafe   Map
The wait staff is friendly despite the cluttered always full eatery. If you're lucky and you come in on a bright day the front booth is dreamy. If you're dining on a busy night don't expect a romantic affair the table are close, but the food is tasty and worth the close quarters. If you want a meal at 4 in the morning when bars close head to Yaffa's Cafe because it's always open.

Restaurant Reviews - French Cuisine

Triomphe New York   Map
The Scene: This intimate room (only 11 tables) in the renovated Iroquois Hotel is subtly swank: gentle light flatters and soft music swings. Charming and capable young servers don't need to rush because they never have far to go.

Restaurant Reviews - Italian

Lupa Osteria Romana   Map
I'm still full and very content when I think about my meal at Lupa, one of "Molto" Mario Batali's restaurants. I don't think they're used to young women dining alone, but my service was attentive and friendly nonetheless, and the food and wine recommendations from my server and the bartender were excellent. First, I ate two slices of moist, salty rosemary foccaccia and olive oil. I enjoyed a quartino of 2003 Tourette along with a cold appertivi of plump white beans with swiss chard.

Strada 57   Map
A great restaurant, serving mostly Italian dishes. According to their website they say "Strada 57 serves up many delicious dishes at very reasonable prices." This is a true statement. The service I received was friendly, prompt, and overall great. The meals tasted like real Italian should. All in all, Strada 57 is a place I feel is excellent for a great meal, and I know I will go back again and again!

Restaurant Reviews - Japanese

Tao New York   Map
When I walked inside, Tao, it looked like a giant Asian temple with a huge Buddah sitting where everyone can see. Tao is known for Japanese and Thai cuisines which are very tasty and delicious. It is a little pricey but well worth it. For dessert I had a giant fortune cookie with white and chocolate mousse inside which was probably one of the best desserts I have ever had. Tao is a must when you are in New York City.

Restaurant Reviews - Mexican Food

Benny's Burritos   Map
Nestled in the Village, Benny's Burritos, with great drink specials, unbelievable burritos, and outdoor seating is the perfect place for a Saturday lunch or an evening dinner. The burritos are great with excellent vegetarian options and great stuff for the meat-eaters as well. The drink specials are always great (frozen margs/sangria/mimosas) In the spring and summer, outdoor seating is available. And everything is very reasonably priced.

La Palapa   Map
Features delectable Mexican cuisine in the middle of the very hectic East Village. Don't expect the usual Tex-Mex fare here, as you'll find enchiladas smothered in mole sauce, grilled nopales (cactus), and plenty of queso fresco and Mexican crema to top off these creations, instead. Their tacos are several notches above the rest - my personal favorite is the pork tacos al pastor, filled with roasted pineapple. Even the desserts here feature unusual gems; think rose petal or sweet corn ice cream,

Restaurant Reviews - Persian

Ravagh   Map
Excellent restaurant that attracts many Persians, speaking to the authenticity of the food. It is a smaller restaurant, easy to miss on the outside due to the small sign but well worth finding. Best appetizer: Kashk Bademjan (pureed eggplant with onions and seasoning, topped with yogurt). All the Kabobs are fantastic, with the possible exception of the Chicken Shish Kabob, which i only single out because you can get it anywhere. Stews are wonderful too. Always busy but never too crowded.

Restaurant Reviews - Pizza - Mom & Pop

Brothers Pizza   Map
Brothers pizza is one of the best pizza's in the city and all at an affordable price. I have eaten here since I moved. Their pepporoni pizza is the best, but all the varieties are great. My wife loves their specialty pizzas and my son loves the meat lovers pizza. If you are ever around town make sure you try out Brothers Pizza you will not be dissappointed if you like pizza.

Restaurant Reviews - Steak Houses

BLT Steak   Map
BLT Steak is not your typical NYC Steak house. The food is excellent, from appetizers to dessert. Even the bread is not your typical fare as they offer pop-overs that are exquisite. Their meat selection is fabulous, the chef truly takes his time to choose the right cut and cook it to perfection. The service is excellent, from Matre’d to the bus boys all are attentive without being intruding. The wine list is exceptional!

Churrascaria Plataforma   Map
Start your meal with selections from a well-stocked hot-and-cold salad bar; highlights include seafood paella, beans and rice, tortellini salad, and a surprisingly good tabbouleh. However, be careful not to go overboard: The real meal is about to beg All meat is expertly carved directly onto your plate with a maximum of showmanship, and without exception, everything we tried -- prime rib, flank steak, pork spare ribs, sirloin, sausage, and much more -- was succulent, perfectly cooked, and delicious.

Restaurant Reviews - Sushi

Sushi Park Inc   Map
Sushi park provides quality sushi dining at an affordable price. With hot and cold sake their sushi just melts in one's mouth. A true japanese experience at an affordable price. The terriaki salmon is to die for and the ambiance is also pleasant. Though sometimes crowded it is often worth the wait. A great spot for dinner with friends or dates.

Restaurant Reviews - Thai

VYNL   Map
The music theme provides a wonderful backdrop for a lunch or dinner that's sure to be fun. The food has an emphasis on Thai and vegetarian/vegan options, but there is sure to be something for everyone on the menu. Be sure to at least ask for a dessert menu -- you'll get it on an old record. And check out the bathrooms! Choose between Nelly, Cher, Dolly, and Elvis. The music of that artist will be playing and a mosaic will be pasted on the wall.
